Congressman Tom Allen was apparently stuck in an airport due to bad weather and forced to miss an AFL-CIO meeting which featured other senate challengers. From the AFL-CIO blog:
Rep. Tom Allen (D), who is running in Maine against Sen. Susan Collins (R) and her 34 percent lifetime working families voting record, was scheduled to appear, but fierce storms in the Chicago area snarled air traffic, and he was unable to appear.
Allen was attending in part to support the Employee Free Choice Act, which has already become a political issue in Maine thanks to heavy spending on advertising by corporate interest groups. The Hill says the fight over the issue is likely to become even louder as election day approaches.
