MaineOpenGov.org is a new site created by the Maine Heritage Policy Center using information from freedom of access requests. It provides a searchable database of government expenditures including employee salaries, pension payments, and state contracts.
One would think this is the kind of thing the government might create themselves. After all, they did spend $481,411 on web site production contracts last year, according to this database.

Responsibility
As a state employee I agree that this information is public and the public has a right to see it.
The Maine Heritage Policy site has gotten requests for two items, a list of their own employees and funding sources. Can you hear the silence?
The second was a request to remove the names of victims of domestic violence and stalking. Their answer, tough luck!
If you want transparency, offer transparency, and add some concern and responsibility.
