Quote of the day, from the always excellent Portland Daily Photo blog:
Apparently we will be electing a new governor this year, based on the amount of signs around town. I think that the governor's office is awarded to the candidate with the most signs.

Franklin Arterial is just as bad
The signs on Franklin Arterial are just as bad. The strange thing is 99% of the sings are for Republican gubernatorial candidates. Very few sings for local races or Democrats looking to become our next governor. Not really the sign landscape I'd expect in Portland with less than a month to go.
Rufus, The signs on the
Rufus,
The signs on the Franklin Arterial are meant for the suburban commuters (read: lawyers and their staff) who come into the city each morning, and leave again each evening. Democrats don't need to blanket Portland with much of anything, as most Portland voters already live under a comforter of Democratic affiliation as birthright.
However, I am still pleased to see the number of Jacobson signs (more than I would have thought) popping up in the actual neighborhoods of Portland. I'm not suggesting it is anywhere near enough to suggest a Jacobson win (of the primary) - but it does indicate a shift in the thinking among some Portland residents - listening, one hopes, to the message and not the party behind it. I am.
