Maine Leads, PAC

Sun Journal Opinion Editor Tony Ronzio says Maine Leads has acted as a PAC in pursuing ballot initiatives and should have to disclose its donors and expenditures to the state ethics commission.

This issue first arose in May, when the commission voted to investigate the organization after a complaint was filed by by Deborah Hutton, a former Democratic legislator. The commission will meet on Tuesday to debate the matter and hear testimony from Maine Leads Executive Director (and Floridian) Roy Lenardson. The agenda and documents for that meeting can be viewed here.

Gerald Weinand has more on the issue at Dirigo Blue.

Video

Ronzio (and Tipping) are leaders in the use of video. I feel (a tiny little bit) better after speaking with the former and would be also open to speaking with the latter.

I love new media in the sense that news can be much more quickly (e.g. virally) conveyed. Many not in this medium yet.

Don't you have voters to talk to?

Mr. Hammer, please drop your obsession with the way your message is getting out and start actually putting a message out. I've read maybe 20 of your personal statements on the web and the only thing I know about Alex Hammer is that he has enough time on his hands to hang out in the ether and pick fights with people who buy ink (or in this case bandwith) by the barrel.

I really don't care what your stance is on the editorial page editor of a the Sun Journal or a blogger. If you are going to let us know "how you feel" about something, make sure it's health care reform, tax issues, or how Mainers are going to heat their homes this winter. New media is a great way to get your message out, but it isn't that effective when you are only arguing about how that particular medium is being used.

Please, lean less on blog comments or twitter and instead knock on the neighborhood doors. And good luck with the campaign!

Thank you very much. Here is

Thank you very much. Here is one link, for example, to my book: http://www.lulu.com/items/volume_65/4267000/4267418/4/print/This_Great_S...
and we're meeting voters in many ways (online just one medium of many)
