Collins Story Spreads

The story of Susan Collins gossiping about John Edwards affair has spread far and wide in both traditional and electronic media. Here's the story from WGME:

Jeff Parsons, the morning show host who posted the original video to the internet, has a compendium of the coverage so far on his blog:

I'll add a few more:

Lewiston Sun Journal
Kennebec Journal
The Associated Press
As Maine Goes

Gerald at TMB attempts to rise above the scurrilousness and faults the radio hosts for not calling Collins on false policy statements. I think he expects way too much of these morning show hosts. I'm just glad they discussed some issues, fawning and facile as their questions may have been. In a recent interview with Barack Obama that Parsons links to, they asked such questions as "Are you hinting Hillary is gay?" "Do you ever just want to smack her [Hilary Clinton]?" and "Obama kinda sounds like Osama, does that worry you?"

Media Coverage

A couple notes:

AMG isn't running it as a story - your link is to a comment buried in a thread. Check out AMG's front page here - as of 12:44 p.m. 15 Aug, Scott Fish has done his best to ignore it.

While KJ has it, the other Blethen paper up that way, the Morning Sentinel, does not. Nor does the Bangor Daily News have anything in their online edition, even though I called them and told them about it last night.

Don't know about TV up that way - am interested to learn if it has been covered.

As far as the print media goes, this is NOT being covered in much of the 2nd District.

Wouldn't you know it? The BDN

Wouldn't you know it? The BDN now has the story too, viw AP, which includes this major mistake:

During the Portland radio program, Collins was asked if she thought Edwards was the father.

Of course, she wasn't asked, but voluntarily went down the paternity path, even joking that her staff didn't think she should.
