Budget Questions

Governor Baldacci released his budget for the next biennium this afternoon. The whole thing is available online and here's an early summary from the AP.

I didn't listen to all of the governor's address, but I did catch the question and answer portion (which I've uploaded below). Some interesting questions from a reporter named Lance (who has to be Lance Tapley) about Keynesian economics and how amenable the governor would be to rolling back any of the cuts or broadening the sales tax based on the position of the legislature. Some other interesting bits as well, including a hint from Baldacci that there are some other, one-time revenue sources that might be used to replace some of the money cut from the state's college system.

Also, his mother told him that times like this "build character".

Update: Here's the press release/summary from the governor's office.
