www.iwasaluckyone.com is a new website created by the Maine Democratic Party offering a look at Senator Snowe-Mello's record on animal welfare. It may also be the first time an adorable puppy has been used in an attack ad.

I found the site through traffic from an outgoing link to my post on Snowe-Mello's disagreement with the Sun Journal about her actions opposing the rescue effort at a Buxton puppy mill. It's not clear how the party intends to promote the site in District 15.

Attack ads using Puppies?
I'm afraid it's been done in Minnesota already. So Collins steals the hockey ad, now the Maine Democratic Party steals a puppies ad. :)

Political history lesson
Actually, Michael Steele did it first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7wjJyMDUH0
I guess I should have said the first use of puppies in a serious ad. Also, this one is much cuter.
Puppies
That is a pretty funny ad from Steele. However, despite his pro-puppy stance, he lost the race.
I don't understand the website. How many people will visit it in the remaining days? Will it be enough to make a difference?
I believe you wrote this in an article: "Snowe-Mello won by only 395 votes in 2006." So what is your prediction for district 15?
Is this the best they can do?
They link to a Letter to the Editor...and an anonymous blogger...that is a real credible source for your charges. I thought when you go negative you need substantiated proof not yellow journalism.
site
I'm not sure, Will. They might make it the subject of a mailer or try to get some press coverage of it.
As for who wins, all I can tell you is it'll be close, and so will the balance of power in the Senate.
